Mix 94.5 $10,000 Shopping Spree Contest Rules
(Contest begins on Monday, December 1, 2008)
Contest Prizes:
Grand $10,000 Prize:
One winner will receive a time-limited shopping spree on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 where he/she will receive up to a total of at least $10,000 of merchandise from ten (10) or more Eugene area merchants (additional merchants will be at station’s election). The grand prize winner is the first on-air contestant to correctly name, in order, all ten numbers on the Mix 94.5 $10,000 Shopping Spree Contest “Credit Card”.
Additional Prizes:
$100 Cash:
A $100 cash prize will be awarded to each of the nine on-air contestants who correctly name one of the first nine numbers of the Mix 94.5 $10,000 Shopping Spree Contest “Credit Card”.
Mix T-Shirt:
A Mix 94.5 T-Shirt will be awarded to those on-air contestants who incorrectly guess the correct number(s) of the Mix 94.5 $10,000 Shopping Spree Contest “Credit Card”.
How the Contest Is Played:
There will be at least three (3) listener opportunities per day (6:00am – 7:00pm) to play the contest on all weekdays (Monday – Friday) beginning Monday, December 1, 2008 and continuing until there is a grand prize winner. The station may – at its sole discretion – offer additional opportunities to play.
The KMGE on-air talent (“The DJ”) will ask for listeners to call in to the Mix 94.5 Listener Line at (541) 484-9494. The DJ will take calls in order until he has the 9th caller on the line.
If one or more of the credit card numbers have been previously identified on the air, the on-air contestant (9th caller) will be asked to identify – in order and from left-to-right – all the previously identified “Mix 94.5 $10,000 Shopping Spree Contest “Credit Card” numbers. Each number is a single digit from zero (0) to nine (9).
If all the previously identified credit card numbers are correctly designated, the DJ will then ask the on-air contestant to identify the next number on the credit card. If this next number is correctly identified, the on-air contestant will win the $100 cash prize and then will be given one (1) opportunity to identify the next number on the Mix 94.5 $10,000 Shopping Spree Contest “Credit Card”. A correct answer at this time earns the on-air contestant another $100 cash prize and another chance to move on to the next number. An incorrect number selection ends the on-air contestant’s opportunity to play further on that occasion and is awarded a Mix T-Shirt for trying the contest.
The on-air contestant who is first in correctly identifying ALL ten numbers – in order and from left-to-right - of the Mix 94.5 $10,000 Shopping Spree Contest “Credit Card” will be deemed the Grand Prize Winner. The grand prize winner will not receive the $100 cash prize for correctly identifying the tenth and final number of the Mix 94.5 Shopping Spree Contest “Credit Card”.
Employees of McKenzie River Broadcasting (KMGE-FM, KKNU-FM or KEUG-FM) – both on-air and off-air personnel – will not provide persons with information about either previous correct or incorrect on-air contestant number answers.
How the Mix 94.5 $10,000 Shopping Spree Works:
The Mix 94.5 $10,000 Shopping Spree will take place on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 unless (i) the station, in its sole discretion, agrees to another subsequent date based on a serious change of circumstances for the winner, such as illness or injury or (ii) there has been no grand prize winner prior to Tuesday, December 16, 2008.
The grand prize winner will have ninety-four (94) seconds at each merchant location to shop – at station’s expense – for $500 worth of merchandise priced at the merchant’s current listed prices to the public.
The ninety-four (94) second time limit shall start after the winner has entered the applicable store at the signal of the Official Mix 94.5 $10,000 Shopping Spree Timer. Only merchandise placed on the designated no-wait checkout counter within the ninety-four (94) seconds shall be counted as purchased. The decision of the Official Mix 94.5 $10,000 Shopping Spree Timer as to elapsed time shall be final.
For the safety of the grand prize winner and others, the grand prize winner musk walk – not run – while within each of the merchant locations.
If the items “purchased” at any shopping spree merchant location exceed the designated contest dollar limit for that store, the winner shall promptly make the choice whether to return any item(s) causing the excess or to personally pay in cash or by merchant approved credit card the excess over the designated contest amount.
The designated amount at each merchant location shall be $500. Therefore, there will be at least twenty (20) merchants all to be shopped on the same day.
The station shall provide the grand prize winner transportation to all merchant locations. The station shall designate the order in which the merchants are shopped as well as the transportation arrangements. The grand prize winner may bring one (1) other person with him or her in the station provided transportation. However, no person may assist the grand prize winner during the ninety-four (94) second shopping sprees at each merchant location. If a participating retailer has multiple locations in the Eugene area, the station – with retailer approval – shall designate which location is to be used for the shopping spree.
Eligibility:
On-air contestants must be legal residents of the United States who are at least 18 years of age. Employees of McKenzie River Broadcasting company and of all merchants/retailers participating in the contest, and all members of their immediate family, including any other members of their household, are not eligible to participate in this on-air contest. All federal, state and local taxes are the sole responsibility of the $100 cash prize winners and the grand prize winner and therefore will be paid by each respective winner.
Winner Procedures:
The $100 cash prize winners and the grand prize winner must provide station with proof of identity. In addition, the $100 cash prize winners and the grand prize winner may be required to sign an eligibility form, a publicity release, and/or a form acknowledging an understanding of the rules of the contest.
The $100 cash prize winners and the grand prize winner acknowledge and agree that as a condition of winning, McKenzie River Broadcasting has the right to publicize his/her name, likeness, address, voice and the fact that he/she won one or more $100 cash prizes and/or the grand prize (Mix 94.5 $10,000 Shopping Spree), and all matters incidental thereto, without further compensation, except where prohibited by law.
Failure to comply with these rules will cause the prize(s) to be forfeited.
Other:
Station reserves the right to substitute a like amount of cash for merchandise for some or all of the $10,000 Grand Prize. There is no necessity to shop for any cash so substituted.
This contest is for entertainment purposes only. The station reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate or suspend this promotion, should non-authorized human intervention, or other causes beyond its control, corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness or proper conduct of the contest.
